Grill Sergeant

About 10 days ago, I had the privilege to host three of my SCS friends at my house for a day of stamping.  Carol came the day before and spent the entire weekend.  Terry met the two of us at Camp Stamp-in-Oga Saturday morning for stamp class.  We then went shopping to Creative Pals--home of Whipper Snapper stamps and lunch at Stir Crazy.  Terry came back to the house and then LJ came from Madison to join us for a late afternoon and evening of stamping.  We had a blast!   And, we even had a wonderful supper of chicken marsala over rice and fresh asparagus--prepared by my roomie.  And, apple pie baked in a bag, fresh from the Elegant Farmer.  Yum--Yum!!!!

Each of us brought a card kit for the other three to make.  I would not want anyone to be disappointed if I did not pick a Whipper Snapper image!  I used one of my favorites!  I had some options for sentiments on the inside--Happy Birthday, Happy Father's Day, Happy 4th of July, etc.  I really like gate-fold cards and I like how this one turned out.  I hope Carol, Terry and LJ did too!

Gone Fishing

It is the 28th of the month, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls! We are now in our fourth year of posting and it has been a blast.  Wonderful Challenges--Great Fun--Sweet Creations--and Awesome Friendships!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.  April is the hostess this month and she posted the following challenge

Well, it is May and I always like to honor my father this month.  So, to celebrate him (and fathers every where) let us make a masculine celebratory card with any SCS sketch that ends in 25 (the year he was born).  Please let us know which sketch you used and a memory of a special man in your life!

I checked out the four sketches on SCS that end in the number 25.  I went with the first one, #25

 sc25.jpg

I then decided to check out my favorite stamp company, Whipper Snapper, to see what might work with this.  I found the perfect image and the idea was born.  I think all of the elements go well together--from the embossing folder, to the brad & ribbon and finally the sentiment in the inside.

Here is the inside of my card:

The special man in my life would be my dad or my brother.  My dad loved to fish, but as a farmer, he never really retired as he lived and worked on his farm until the day he died.  But--he promised to take us fishing if we finished whatever chores were current when I was growing up on the farm--picking stones, baling hay, etc.  My two nephews still remember those promises and we laugh about them as we rarely did go fishing!  My brother is a retired teacher and spent many summer vacations fishing in northern Wisconsin.  He is the dad of those two nephews, so he too had some of those same days working on the farm............ Great Memories of times with a rod and real with both of them!

I hope April and the other Calendar Girls like my Masculine Sketch!

Dear Algebra

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our second cycle.   Darlene is the hostess this month and she picked a hilarious Riley sentiment.   Darlene will swap the cards--then send us the next image,  which Linda is going to sent to her.  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same sentiment. Then everyone gets to do it all over again!

I just laugh out loud every time I look at this card.  I thought it would be perfect us use some "math" type patterned paper--this is called Geometry!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope everyone who gets my card likes my card!

All About Music Duel

It is the 15thof the month and that means we get to show off another Dueling Darlings challenge. Judy and Paola are the Darlings who came up with the challenge and theme for the teams this month.  Judy is a Diva and Paola is one of the Dazzlers.

The theme is all about music.
We had a choice of two images to use this kit as well as two sentiments--I used both of those as one is in the inside of my card.  I thought this little girl was too darn cute.  I colored her all up and then realized none of the cute papers Judy sent went with pink!  So, I used the wonderful embossed musical background Judy sent and went with a pink, white and black color theme!  I hope Judy likes my take on her kit.  I sure will use the rest of the papers in the future as they are so pretty!

Here is the inside of my card:
