Crafters of Faith ~ Whale Wishes

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card! I am blessed to have you stop by and celebrate New Year’s Eve with us! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!

Here is the January Challenge that Sharon posed to us:
2013 is here! What a great time to clear out the old to make way for the new.

* For this challenge, I would like to see you use both old stash and new stash to create your card/project.

* To add a little fun to the challenge, I'd love to see you try a new technique -- something you've never done before. You can check out Google, YouTube, or even the SCS forums and galleries for inspiration!

* Make sure you tell me what's new and what's old and post a link or give a little description of the technique you used.

I checked out the tutorials on SCS and came up with “Embossed Kisses”.  The technique is to take stamp with a solid image and stamp it in one color ink.  Then take an embossing folder and ink up the embossed side with another colored ink.  Press the inked up stamp into the ink on the embossing folder and lift straight up and stamp the image on your cardstock.  I inked up the whale with Pool Party and the embossing folder with Island Indigo.  I tried it with a couple of stamps and liked the result with the whale stamp.  I realized I do not have too many solid image stamps—that might need to be a purchase in the future if I see something that will work for this technique.
I really did not use anything “new” on my card—other than to try a new technique.  However—I do think this is the first time this stamp set has been inked up.  I got it at a rummage sale a few years ago and I do think it is too cute!
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you do check out the other new creations from the wonderful ladies in the Crafters of Faith group! The blog list on the left side--please check out all of the cards.

Calendar Girls ~ Happiness

It is the 28th, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.    And—we have a new member this month—so please welcome Linda when you check out her blog!

Our
January Challenge was posed by Miss January, our own Jeanette:

This is a PHOTO INSPIRATION Challenge. But there’s a catch! You have to choose your own photo.

I want you to find a photo – it can be a picture you’ve taken (of a family member, a scenic drive, a food you’ve cooked, whatever) or it can be a picture someone else has taken. Maybe you even found it on the internet. After you’ve chosen the PHOTO you want to use, create a card/project inspired by that photo.

Of course on your blog post – when you show us your creation – we also want to see the photo that inspired you.

I thought this was a great challenge—however I did it backwards.........….  (No comment Jeanette!)  I found a stamp that I wanted to ink up first and then went online to find a picture that I could use as inspiration.  Since you saw the image on the card—you will know there are lots and lots of pictures online that I could choose from.

Here is the photo that was inspired by my stamp…………………………..

I love not Cooking ~ Mystery Swap

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS.  A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess.  This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now in our second cycle.  Jeanette chose this image and will swap the cards and send us the next image, provided by Carol!  I can't wait to get the swap cards back to see how everyone else used the same image.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image was a bit of a challenge for me—but I think it came out pretty nice.  I hope Jeanette as well as the others in the swap like it also.  I wanted to utilize as much of the pizza words on the patterned paper and the image covered most of it up when use as a background.  So—I used the image as a kind of flap and put a piece of the pizza paper, along with the sentiment Jeanette, sent on the inside.

It is the 15th of the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge.  Our hostess this month for the Divas is Laura Jean.  The theme that Terry, the hostess for the Dazzlers and LJ came up with relates to the month of January—Book Blitz Month!

What a fun challenge and LJ sent us loads of fun papers, ribbons and other embellishments to play with—along with some great images.    I was able to use one of all of the cute images she sent on my card.  I do love to read and have both “regular” books as well as digital books going right now.  I am reading Scalpel and the Soul, by Dr. Allan Hamilton on my phone or iPad and then the rather large (944 pages!)Lincoln paperback book—Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin.  Both are very, very good.  I think my favorite author is John Grisham……………. I love reading about lawyers!

Here is the inside of my card.

This is the second card that I made for a Valentine swap on SCS that Roxane is hosting.  I think this paper is so pretty—it is from Archivers and I got it a couple of years ago when I went to an event.  I wanted to highlight the paper, so I just added simple hearts as an image.

Crafty Gals January Project

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with another challenge of the Crafty Gals!  We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.

This month we have a few new members and it has been a hectic couple of weeks for all of us.  So, our leader Melina proposed that we post any project we are working on—instead of a specific challenge.  That works for me!

This is a card that I made for a Valentine swap on SCS that Roxane is hosting—I love this sentiment.

Oh--as a reminder..............  If you did not check out my year in review blog post, please scroll down to read it.  If you leave a comment and tell my what is your favorite card that I posted from 2012, you may win blog candy!  Thanks.
