Crafters of Faith ~ Thanksgiving

Today is the last day of the month and I am here to welcome you to my Crafters of Faith card!   I am blessed to have you stop by and celebrate an early Thanksgiving with all of us! The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of Christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together! If you want to see all of the creations, there is a blog list on the left side--please check out all of the cards.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Wow, it's hard to believe that there is only 3 more months left of 2012...where has the time gone?? Some of you may know from reading my blog this week that Autumn is my favorite season of the year. In Southern Ontario it is quickly making its appearance and where I'm from the color of the changing leaves can be quite spectacular. It's so inspiring--I just love it! Autumn also includes my most favorite holiday celebration--THANKSGIVING!! It's hard not to love a holiday that calls on us to give thanks for our blessings. I realize not everyone around the world celebrates this holiday, and our friends in the U.S. don't celebrate until November, so for this challenge you can choose to make either a card for thanksgiving OR a thank you card for someone who has been a blessing to you. Please use at least 2 designer papers and 1 embellishment, and most importantly, have fun! I can't wait to see what you've created!

Here is the card I created for you.

I think this is such a cute and funny image………… I even added a Thanksgiving brad on the inside of my card:

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you do check out the other creations from the wonderful ladies in the Crafters of Faith group!

Calendar Girls ~ Happy Halloween

It is the 28th, so I am here to welcome you to another round with the Calendar Girls!

Who are the Calendar Girls? We are a group of bloggers who want to have a place where friendships blossom, creativity abounds, and encouragement prevails! In keeping with that dream, this blog group has been created so we will have a place to interact and enjoy being fellow bloggers.

Tami is our hostess this month and here is her challenge.
We are all about the month of October! I have three little challenges for the girls this month.

It is the tenth month of the year, so please have exactly ten ( 10 ) items on your card. No more, no less! The ten items do not include your card base. Your image stamped on a piece of card stock is counted as one item.

Our due date is the 28th. So, that is going to require two ( 2 ) circles needed on each card and a minimum of eight ( 8 ) different colors.

Are you scared yet?! LOL Start taking a peek….there are a lot of different elements and colors on our cards! I am so looking forward to what you all create, as I do each month.

I thought this was a fun challenge—counting layers, checking the colors and making sure I had 2 circles.  I do have exactly 10 items—not counting the base layer.  Do you count 10?  If you only see 9, check for the tip at the end of my post today.

Here is the inside of my card—this does not count in the total of 10 layers—and that is good!

Colorful Maple leaf

This is one of the two cards that I made for Samantha’s recent Falling For Fall cards.  I love fall as the colors of the leaves are so pretty and this year, despite the drought and worries that the colors would be less than stellar—the leaves are outstanding!  And, we have had little wind, so they are staying on the trees for us to enjoy!

This is a pretty simple card—the colors of the ink and the wording of the paper is what stand out.

Dueling Darlings Love Our Leaders!

It is the 15th of the month and that means another Dueling Darlings challenge.  Our hostess this month for the entire group is Melina.  We have lost a few members in the past few months and have an uneven number of members on each team.  Melina stepped up this month and sent a challenge to the Divas and then a different challenge to the Dazzlers.

The Diva theme is in honor of our leader Kelly.  We were asked to use animals as our theme and then to be sure to add a button on our card.  Kelly loves animals and we all know she loves her Riley’s!  So, that was an easy choice for me.  And, I too love buttons and have a couple of drawers of them—so I had a few choices there too!

The sentiment was not hard either as I am so grateful to be a part of this group and even more grateful to call Kelly a friend!  She is so kind, funny, creative, inspirational, a great mom, loving wife, wonderfully spiritual, a caring friend and my list could go on and on and on………………..  Now-the one thing I need to hope for is that we get to meet in real life sometime—that is on my bucket list!

So—Kels—this one is for you!

Here is the inside of my card.

Unidentified Image Swap ~ Behind Every Successful Woman....

This is the card for the 4th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--today!   The images for this round were provided Terry.  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Jeanette, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image the Terry sent was so cute and I hoped I had some coffee related DSP to use—but in checking my stash, I did not find any.  Guess that means I need to look for some next time I am shopping. I then checked out the gallery on SCS and found some wonderful cards made with this set.  So--I went to plan B and decided to look for online for something to highlight on my card.  I decided to use the logo of the main company we all think of when we think of coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, frappes, etc………….  I did find some coffee related twill in my ribbon stash, so that was added.

I think this card turned out cute—and I hope Terry as well as the others in the swap like it also.

Crafty Gals ~ Outside the Box!

It is the 5th of the month, so I am back with another challenge of the Crafty Gals!  We are a group of bloggers who have monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat on SCS—our favorite stamping site to visit.
This month, the challenge was posted by Athina.  Here are the details of her challenge:

“Think Outside the Box!”

I challenge you to make a project with no squares or rectangles (not even the base of a card or scrapbook layout). Since we have already stepped outside the box, let’s take another step. Try a technique that you have not tried before. It is always fun to learn something new and expand our creativity. Have fun with it! I can't wait to see what you create!

I do not like to be outside of my comfort zone—and 99% of my cards use rectangles and squares.  I might make a tent topper, but it still has a square base.  So—this challenge was a good one for me.  We made a card similar to this one at a stamp event I went to a few months ago and I thought it was a fun card.  So—I made a telescoping card and it is made with three circles!  My technique is to make that type of card as well as adding glitter, which I seldom do.

This is the first and second circles--aren't these a couple of cuties!

Here is the card all the way open!

I think it is a fun card and I hope Athina thinks I met the challenge!
